I love words—the way they sound, the way they work together to convey ideas, the challenge of finding just the right one to express a thought. I have been working with words since 1989, first as an English teacher and now as an editor and writer.
My editing focus includes fiction (action/adventure, mystery/suspense, general interest) and nonfiction (biography/memoir, education, how-to, self-help). I view myself as an unseen assistant, working in the background to fix mistakes, improve readability, and ensure clarity while preserving the author's voice and intent. Ultimately, my goal is to help writers produce books they're proud of. Since 2006, I have worked on 175+ projects for independent authors, traditional publishers, and editing services companies all over the United States.
My writing focus is educational nonfiction for children and young adults. Among my published books are biographies on Malcolm X and Pocahontas, an award-winning book on economies around the world, and a 356-page informational text for high school athletes.
Update: Sports: The Ultimate Teen Guide is now available in paperback! VOYA describes it as "an easy-to-read, approachable book about sports and why they matter for high school students." Click here to check out the book and reader reviews on Amazon.
Please know how impressed I am with your level of expertise and attention to detail. . . . If your ears ring today, it's because I'm telling one of my friends how blessed I am to have you working on my behalf.
Gail was wonderful to work with. She did a great job cleaning up our coaching manual, providing a clear voice and keeping us on track.
