I love words—the way they sound, the way they work together to convey an idea, the challenge of finding just the right one to express a thought. In college I majored in words (BA in English from UCLA), and I have been working with words ever since—first as an eighth grade English teacher and now an editor and writer.
A freelance editor since 2006, I have worked on a variety of nonfiction and fiction projects: biographies/memoirs, coaching manuals, college textbooks, encyclopedias, historical dictionaries, how-to and self-help books, teacher resources, young adult nonfiction and fiction (sci-fi, sports), and adult fiction (action/adventure, fantasy, sci-fi). My clients include traditional publishers, independent authors, and editing services companies all over the United States.
My writing focus is educational nonfiction for children and young adults. My published books include biographies on Malcolm X and Pocahontas, an award-winning book on economies around the world, and a 356-page informational text for high school athletes.
Update: My book Sports: The Ultimate Teen Guide is now available in paperback! VOYA describes it as "an easy-to-read, approachable book about sports and why they matter for high school students." Click here to check out the book and reader reviews on Amazon
Your copy editor is amazing, my hat is off to her for her accuracy and train of thought.—David Gething, author of "Relentless: Seven Marathons, Seven Continents, Seven Days" (Rowman & Littlefield, 2016)
Gail was wonderful to work with. She did a great job cleaning up our coaching manual, providing a clear voice and keeping us on track.—Jollene Butler, Business Operations, Steel Sports, Inc.
