Experienced. Thorough. Reliable.
A freelancer since 2006, I have edited nearly 200 manuscripts for independent authors, traditional publishers, and editing services companies all over the United States. I specialize in copyediting and line editing, both nonfiction (biography/memoir, education, how-to, self-help) and fiction (action/adventure, sci-fi, general interest). I view myself as an unseen assistant, working in the background to fix mistakes, improve readability, and ensure clarity while preserving the author's voice and intent. Ultimately, my goal is to help writers produce books they're proud of.
I am also a published author specializing in educational nonfiction for children and young adults. Among my writing credits are biographies on Malcolm X and Pocahontas, an award-winning book on economies around the world, and a 350-page informational text for high school athletes.
Update: Sports: The Ultimate Teen Guide is now available in paperback! VOYA describes it as "an easy-to-read, approachable book about sports and why they matter for high school students." Click here to check out the book and reader reviews on Amazon.
"Please know how impressed I am with your level of expertise and attention to detail. . . . If your ears ring today, it's because I'm telling one of my friends how blessed I am to have you working on my behalf."
"Gail was wonderful to work with. She did a great job cleaning up our coaching manual, providing a clear voice and keeping us on track."
